Television Vampires

This tv show was interesting, but, unfortunately, very short-lived. I have never been able to get into the Kindred or Masquerade role-playing (most of my friends were D&D fans, but vampires were too far-fetched for them), but I was, of course, interested in this tv show. I think it lasted about one season, and then the actor playing the title character died in a motorcycle accident. I don't think that was the reason the show was canceled, but I missed it after it was gone.

The Kindred are a culture of vampires. Each vampire belongs to a clan and each clan has certain types of characteristics inherent. Each clain has a Primogen, the "father/mother" of each bloodline, also the leader.

This is Julian Luna (played by Mark Frankel), the Prince of the Kindred, residing as a ruler of all the clans (someone has to keep the order). Julian is of the clan Ventrue. The Ventrue tend to be more on the old-fashioned, traditional side, very sophisticated and caring more about appearances.

This is Eddie Fiori (played by Brian Thompson), the Primogen of the Brujah clan. The Brujah are reputed to be the rebels of the vampires, the punks, the skinheads, the more outrageous of society. Eddie was Julian's archenemy and main challenge to the throne. If I remember correctly, Julian had him killed somehow. You may recognize Eddie. He has played vampires before, on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and a few other shows, in addition to playing some thugs on shows like "The X-Files."

This is Lillie Langtry (played by Stacy Haiduk), the Primogen of the Toreador clan. The Toreador were to be proud, regal and ran to expensive tastes. If I remember right, Lillie ran a nightclub and was Julian's sometime girlfriend.

Cash The main character we saw as representative of the Gangrels was a fairly young new upstart, Cash (played by Channon Roe). The Gangrels were the wanderers, reminiscent of gypsies. Cash became enamored of Sasha, who was a human descendant of Julian's and, of course, strictly off limits. I think Cash, or someone actually "embraced" Sasha, not only making her a vampire, but making her a member of an opposing clan from the Ventrue.

Camilla To the left is Daedalus (played by Jeff Kober), the Primogen of the Nosferatu clan. I believe they always looked vamped out and stayed only in the shadows or the basements, unlike the others who lived in mansions or hung out at clubs. I believe Daedalus was an ally of Julian's. The picture to the right is another of the Nosferatu clan - Camilla.

Archon There was also Archon (played by Patrick Bauchau), who was the primogen of the Ventrue clan, and the sire of Julian. I don't remember why he gave up the leadership to Julian, but he did.

This show also had some non-vampires, like C. Thomas Howell starring as Frank Kohanek. I believe he was a reporter or a detective that somehow caught on to the Kindred. And there was this other blonde girl that Julian fell for, Caitlin. I think she was the reporter and Frank was the detective. And, there was Sasha, but she was embraced.
