Cinematic Vampires
In late 2000, Wes Craven came out with a renewed look at the old legend, Dracula 2000. We first meet Christopher Plummer playing a form of Van Helsing, sworn to stay alive until a way was found to kill Dracula once and for all. He has a gorgeous assistant in Jonny Lee Miller.
A group of thieves break into the vault where Drac is being stored and he is awakened, looking a little worse from the storage.
As Dracula feeds on his victims, his youth is replenished and he begins to hunt for his true purpose - the blood that is calling to him from across the miles (of time and place). Of course, he accumulates his band of "faithful" followers.
Gerard Butler appears as Dracula, with an interesting cast which includes Jennifer Esposito, Omar Epps, Lochlyn Munroe, Justine Waddell, Colleen Fitzpatrick and Jeri Ryan. The movie was okay. The plot revealed at the end - the secret of Dracula's existence - was surprising and very original. (I won't give it away here.)
